On the invitation of the Brussels-based Union of International Associations (UIA), PCAAE Founder & CEO, Octavio ‘Bobby’ Peralta, made the closing keynote themed, “Purposeful Associations” before 130 participants from around the world at the 8th UIA Asia-Pacific Roundtable held on September 17-18, 2020 in virtual Seoul.
The online event, hosted by the Seoul Tourism Organization (STO), also afforded the attendees and speakers to experience “Virtual Seoul” with all its sights and sounds. The main sessions were held in virtual Changdeokgung Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the workshops at artificial Island venues on the Hangang River. There was also a theater to experience Seoul through fascinating trips from the rooftop of the Dongdaemun Design Plaza; a booth to have meetings with STO staff and find out more about Seoul’s customized support at the N Seoul Tower Observatory; and a networking lounge to meet and greet with association delegates and UIA associate members while enjoying team-building games at the Seoul Botanic Park.
Mr. Peralta also conducted a separate workshop on “Association Business Model Innovation,” one of six e-workshops offered to the participants. UIA round tables provide an opportunity to learn through networking and through practice, to meet other international associations, and to share experience and knowledge to help association executives run their organization better.
