PCAAE holds CPAE seminar on financial management

IMG_8197 The Philippine Council for Associations and Association Executives (PCAAE) conducted a seminar-workshop on “Financial Management 101 for Associations” on June 23, 2016 at the Best Western Plus Antel Hotel, in Makati City. The thirty (32) PCAAE members who attended the event have earned credits towards becoming a Certified Professional Association Executive (CPAE).

The CPAE program was developed by PCAAE to further professionalize association governance and management in the country and offers excellent career opportunities and growth for those already working or those considering to work in the association sector that includes Board members, officers, staff and professionals.

IMG_8210The seminar, whose main goal is to equip association professionals with necessary knowledge and skills in the preparation and documentation of their financial reports, covered “Accounting and Bookkeeping for Associations” and “Auditing and Reporting for Associations”. Among specific topics discussed were accounting cycles, the nature and environment of accounting, forms of business entities, types of business operations, users of accounting information, the basic concepts and principles of accounting, the accounting equation, assets, liabilities, equity, expanded accounting equation, rules of debit and credit, and statement of income. Other topics dissected were internal audit basic, internal audit cycle, importance of corporate governance in internal audit, the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF), mission of internal auditing, core principles of internal auditing, code of ethics if internal auditing, governance, risk management and control, and the internal audit control.

The resource persons of the seminar were Ms Eden Cabrera, Chair, Accountancy Department De La Salle University, Dasmarinas, Cavite, and Ms. Eloisa M. Acosta, Chief Operating Officer, Institute of Internal Auditors Philippines, Inc.
