PCAAE chairs first APFAO general meeting

apao 1The Philippine Council of Associations and Association Executives (PCAAE) was designated to chair the first general meeting of the Asia Pacific Federation of Association Organizations (APFAO) www.apfao.org, a regional network of national “associations of associations” established on March 24, 2015 at the 2015 ASAE Great Ideas Asia-Pacific Conference on Association Management in Hong Kong.

The meeting was held at the Shangrila Kowloon at the start of the 2016 ASAE Great Ideas Global Association Management Conference Asia-Pacific on April 10, 2016 and was attended by an expanded group consisting of the four APFAO “founding members” namely, the Associations Forum, the Australasian Society of Association Executives, the Korean Society of Association Executives and the PCAAE. They were joined by representatives from the ASAE, ICCA as well as tourism boards, convention bureaus and a business federation from Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore.

The attendees in the meeting agreed to move the APFAO forward, forming a ‘core group’ to provide guidance and direction to the initiative, with the PCAAE continuing on as the APFAO ‘focal point’ to coordinate its activities and to manage its initial programs such as the APFAO website and the soon-to-be-launched APFAO enewsletter.
