PCAAE conducted a seminar-workshop on “Business Model Innovation and Re-frame for Associations” under its Certified Professional Association Executive (CPAE) program on March 17, 2016 at the ADFIAP International Headquarters in Makati, Metro Manila, with 20 member-attendees earning CPAE credits.
The CPAE is a continuing education and certification program developed by PCAAE to further professionalize association governance and management in the country and offers excellent career opportunities and growth for those already working or those considering to work in the association sector that includes Board members, officers, staff and professionals.
The morning session on “Business Model Canvas” was handled by Atty. Alberto Reyno, Managing Principal of ADFIAP Consulting, where a useful template or ‘canvas’ was presented to analyze nine key aspects of the association’s value creation areas and their interrelationships, i.e., customers, value proposition, channels, customer relationship, revenue streams, key activities, key resources, key partners and cost structure. Participants worked in groups to develop their respective ‘canvases’ to arrive at a business model that suits their own association.
PCAAE President & CEO, Mr. Octavio B. Peralta, handled the afternoon session on “Business Model Innovation Re-frame” that provided for another tool to deep dive on the association’s business model and to come up with a business model that is appropriate in this “age of disruption”. Four (4) areas of re-framing was covered such as innovation in customer relationship, innovation in operation, innovation in resources, and innovation in cost. The basic premise of “re-framing” is to ask the question, “what if…” and try to develop innovative ideas in enhancing or changing the business model, if needed. The participants also worked in groups to come up with a new business model for their associations.
