During the sidelines of the inaugural American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) “Great Ideas Conference Asia-Pacific” held on March 23-24, 2015 in Hong Kong, PCAAE was among the signatories to the ‘Hong Kong Charter’ together with the Korean Society of Association Executives (KSAE), the Associations Forum Australia and the Australasian Society of Association Executives (AuSAE). With PCAAE, these groups are only four same-purposed national associations currently in the region.
The initiative is a historic one as its aim is to eventually form an ‘Asia-Pacific Federation of Association Organisations’ and then a global federation which could lead to a world congress of association executives. More importantly, it represents a platform where Asia-Pacific association leaders and executives can exchange knowledge and know-how to build efficient and sustainable associations.
The charter was initiated and drafted by PCAAE’s present President & CEO, Mr. Octavio B. Peralta, who is a PCAAE member and currently secretary-general of the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP). Mr. Peralta co-founded the PCAAE in November 2013. Mr. Peralta hopes the new alliance would lead to the formation of more national societies of association executives to advance the cause for the Asia-Pacific federation.
