PCAAE conducts CPAE seminar on teambuilding, public & stakeholder relations

Slide1The Philippine Council of Associations and Association Executives (PCAAE), under its Certified Professional Association Executive (CPAE) program, conducted a seminar-workshop on “Public & Stakeholder Relations and Team Building on August 24, 2016 at the Best Western Plus Antel Hotel in Makati City. 20 participants attended the program and earned additional CPAE credits.

The seminar covered two learning sessions. The first session focused its discussions on the importance of building a sustainable relationships with different stakeholders and how to communicate messages across them using the different media. It covered the Linkage Model and the four types of stakeholders under it, the Stakeholder Typology and its characteristics, other type of stakeholder groups, government as stakeholder, and engaging community groups as stakeholders.

The second session started with the reverse puzzle strategy to differentiate how a team and a group work. The session discussed the goals of team building workshops and how to create an effective team through the Tuckman’s stages of team development. It also discussed the Skill/Will Matrix and its objectives as well as the Nine (9) Belbin Team Roles. In addition, it presented and discussed a case study on how to make a team effective and the three (3) agreement settings in team meetings to breakdown barriers.

The team of resource persons during morning session (Public and Stakeholders Relations) were from the Alchemy Creative Communications Studio— Mr. Gerard Teves, Director for Programs; Mr. Kenneth Tirado, Director for Advocacy; and Mr. Roy Camacho, Deputy Director for Advocacy and Stakeholders Relations. The other resource person (Team Building) was Mr. Joseph Ty Cubar, Consultant of the Human Inter-ACTION Team and of the International Association for Volunteer Effort Philippines. Mr. Cubar is a PCAAE member.
