PCAAE conducts organizational & values development seminar

July cpaeThe Philippine Council of Associations and Association Executives (PCAAE) conducted a seminar-workshop on organizational and values development on July 27, 2016 at the Best Western Plus Antel Hotel in Makati City, Metro Manila. The course, under the Certified Professional Association Executive (CPAE), was attended by 20 members.

The CPAE was developed by PCAAE to further professionalize association governance and management in the country and offers excellent career opportunities and growth for those already working or those considering to work in the association sector that includes Board members, officers, staff and professionals.

The program covered two (2) learning sessions which tackled organizational and values development, peoples skills and supervision as well as staffing, welfare and compensation. The first session, handled by Dr. Gerry de la Zerna, President of Guided and Unified Interaction for Development of Children, Inc., covered learning exercises which were focused on organizational mandates of non-government organizations (NGO) and what NGO employees value in their jobs. In addition, Dr. dela Zerna discussed the sources of values, types of values, the Gordon Allport classification of values, the Magno & Associates value categories, value congruence and incongruence, values and trends, nine most important popular values, the Schwartz’s values circumference, values drivers, and improving value drivers management.

The second session was handled by Mr. Orlando Pena, President of ABC Consulting and President Emeritus of the Peoples Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP). Mr. Pena focused his discussion on the decision-making process which is an important aspect in organizational development. He discussed the selection process in staffing, the whole universe of selection process, compensation process, the types of organizational decision, the universe of a managerial action, the difficulties in decision making, and the decision statement (purpose of decision).
